Bridge over Kosi River
We have wanted to click the 100+ Year Old Suspension Bridge over Kosi River for a long time. We got a chance to complete this bucket list item when we were invited for a destination wedding to Corbett this weekend. The conditions were perfect, the bridge was illuminated by the last quarter Moon rising after midnight.
In the daytime, you can have a leisurely walk over the swinging bridge, it is quite a pleasant experience. Both sides of the bridge there are tall trees on the sloping hill sides. At this time at the end of March, 2024, there were trees of various colours.
In the daytime you can hop on the pebbles and river stones and reach the gently flowing and pristine clear water. The flowing water is quite accessible for easy bathing. There is also a natural gentle pool formed below the bridge, which is quite inviting. On this occasion we saw several families enjoying the gentle flowing stream.
Of course we like to visit such places for night photography. The 200 metres walk at night, from the place where we parked our car, to the selected camera spot near the water, was quite dark and scary, but we did not encounter any wild predator.
The conditions were quite right. The bridge was towards the north, with the Moon illuminating from the southern direction. The motion of the stars towards the Northern direction is captured for about 100+ minutes.
This is not the famous Kosi which flows through China, Nepal and India, this Kosi is just about 160 km long and entirely flows in Uttarakhand and joins the Ramganga River.
Fulfilled a long standing night pic wish.
